Fanado Partners with Future Library, Periscope, Twitter and Wattpad to Deliver a Global Event with a reach of over 99M people
On May 26th 2015, Fanado joined Future Library, Twitter, Periscope and Wattpad to deliver an exciting event in celebration of a future artwork. A thousand trees planted in Nordmarka, a forest just outside Oslo, will supply paper for a special anthology of books to be printed in one hundred years. Future Library is a new public artwork by Scottish artist Katie Paterson that will unfold over the next 100 years in the city of Oslo, Norway. Between now and then, one writer every year will contribute a text, with the writings held in trust, unpublished, until 2114. The prizewinning author, poet, essayist, literary critic and environmentalist Margaret Atwood is the first writer to contribute to Future Library. She handed over the inaugural manuscript “Scribbler Moon” in a special ceremony in Oslo that was viewed by all on Periscope. Margaret and Katie personally signed 50 numbered limited edition e-covers for fifty winners selected through @Twitter requests, using the @fanadoevents app. The story-sharing site @wattpad also ran a writing contest involving the title. It has been estimated by the Oslo Business Region that the event had a reach of 99.3 million people through blogs, videos, Twitter and Instagram. At least 203 articles were published with an estimated audience of 3.9 million. Fanado was pleased to bring Atwood and Future Library enthusiasts closer to the artists they admire with personally signed, limited edition e-covers commemorating the creation of the Future Library. The response from winners to their signed e-covers has been delightful. Here’s a sample:- “This is quite exciting and I'm thrilled to receive a signed edition!”
- “Thank you! Wonderful cover!”
- “So grateful to receive this cover--the cover for me, the story for my grandchildren!”
- “I was totally knocked out by the amazing technology on the day that brought it to life in front of my eyes – not to say dazzled by the brilliance of the project itself. With sky-high admiration….”
